About Scholarship

Social Media affects all aspects of daily life. People can access social media accounts across a variety of devices, one or more of which are always available. Studies as recently as 2015 indicate that the average teen spends 1/3 of their waking hours engaging on social media. The preferred media device for students aged 14- 25 is the cell phone, a device that is checked on average of 46 times per day.

Social Media has now become a part of everyday life, the question becomes does it enhance everyday life, or does it have a detrimental effect on daily activities. This is an interesting question especially for students. Today we ask you to write an essay on :

“How Social Media affects Students in relation to their study habits”

Possible subtopics to explore in answering the general question of the essay include:

  1. Does Social Media interfere or take precedence over study time?
  2. Can Social Media benefit study habits?
  3. Is Social Media interfering with education?
  4. How does continually checking my social media affect my study habits?

This is an opinion essay without citations, quotes or footnotes. Your essay should be written in accepted academic style with an introduction, body and conclusion.

  1. An Introductory Paragraph that lays out the questions that will be explored
  2. The Body of your essay will discuss each of your explored questions and answers in one or more dedicated paragraphs.
  3. The Conclusion will summarize the Body and answer the questions presented in your Introductory Paragraph.

This is an academic exercise in creatively writing your opinion and or thesis. The essay will be checked for plagiarism. Footnotes are only required when quoting statistics. Quotes are discouraged, however if you should decide to use a quote it must not account for more than 3% of the total word count and only used as support for your thesis.
